Chiefs’ strategic committee

Mandate

  • Facilitate and strengthen the link between the Secretariat and the Chiefs’ Assembly.
  • Recommend appropriate actions to be taken to follow up on resolutions adopted by the Chiefs’ Assembly.
  • Establish and recommend strategies for priority action to be taken in political files.
  • Propose agendas for the meetings of the Chiefs’ Assembly.
  • Identify means for making the political actions of the AFNQL more effective.
Makeup

The Chiefs’ Strategic Committee is made up of seven (7) members. A quorum is reached if at least four (4) members are present at a meeting.

Frequency of meetings

The committee holds at least one statutory meeting every three months, in preparation for the Chiefs’ General Assembly. The Committee may also meet according to the needs expressed by the Regional Chief or any of the members.

Meeting procedures

The AFNQL Chief chairs each meeting and the members first go over the agenda. No item can be added to the agenda if it has not already been brought to the Regional Chief’s attention by means of the form given to that effect along with the call to attend the meeting.
