Youth

The role of the regional youth coordinator of the Secretariat of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL) is to set up activities to achieve the following objectives :

  • Create a youth network (15-30) in order to circulate information intended for First Nations youth on and off-reserve;
  • Inform and create contacts and links between First Nations organizations Quebecois and Canadian;
  • Provide support to the communities and Nations that wish to create a structure for the Youth;
  • Mobilize young Aboriginals who wish to get involved at the local (in the community), regional (regional youth forum), provincial (activity set up by an organization in the province) and national levels (National Youth Council of the Assembly of First Nations);
  • Promote youth interaction and discussion within the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador;
  • Ensure the follow-up and the liaison between the Coordinator, AFNQL commissions, partners, governmental organizations and others;
  • Encourage and promote greater youth involvement for First Nations living in the regions of Quebec and Labrador.
